In March, a rumor showed up suggesting that several Infinix phones will be receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat in the coming weeks.
At the time, the mentioned phones included the latest Infinix Zero 4 and its counterpart the Zero 4 Plus, the 2015 Zero 3, Infinix Note 3 as well as Infinix Hot 4, Hot S and Hot S Pro. A few days later, another report emerged claiming that the update was being worked on, but only mentioned three phones – the Zero 4, Zero 4 Plus and the Note 3. This same report added that these three phones could receive the Nougat treat starting mid-April, which is just a few days from now.
In fact, not so long ago, a new listing on benchmarking website Geekbench confirmed that the Infinix Note 3 is indeed being tested for Android 7.0 Nougat OS, but there was no word on when the update will start rolling out. Well, in the latest report, the details are now much clearer as the Chinese OEM has finally given out a release schedule for the Nougat OS as well as the confirmed the list of devices that will be receiving the treat.
Published in the official Infinix Mobility community forum, it has now been confirmed that Android 7.0 Nougat will be available for quite a good number of Infinix phones. Top on the list are the company’s current flagships – the Zero 4 and Zero 4 Plus – but there’s no room for the 2015 Infinix Zero 3. Those using the Infinix Note 3 will also be part of the update and so will the likes of Infinix Hot 4 LTE, Infinix Hot 4 Pro as well as Infinix Hot S. Even though the Pro version of the latter model has not been included on the list, we still expect to see Android 7.0 Nougat hitting this phone.
As for the release dates, those using the Infinix Zero 4 and Infinix Note 3 will start receiving the new Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of April. On the other hand, the update for Infinix Zero 4 Plus will be available for download as from May 25, but this will only be a beta version meant for testing the waters. Infinix Mobility will then roll out the second beta on June 15 and starting July 15, the stable version will be released to all users of the Zero 4 Plus.
Even though the Infinix Hot 4 Pro will also receive the update to Nougat on April 30, like the Zero 4 Plus, this will only be the beta version and not stable enough for using as a daily driver. The phone will receive a second beta on May 20 and on June 5, the stable version will start rolling out. Users of the Infinix Hot 4 LTE will also receive the update in phases, starting with the beta 1 on May 30, beta 2 on June 20 and later on July 20, the final version will be released to the public.
The Infinix RD Team has confirmed that Android 7.0 Nougat will be available for the Infinix Hot S, but the official dates will be confirmed soon. As noted earlier, the Hot S Pro model has not been listed, but we expect to see details about it alongside those of the non-Pro version sooner than later. Keep following us and we’ll update you on when this will be happening.
