A few weeks ago, we reported about Facebook’s plans to end WhatsApp support for a number of platforms on June 30, which is less than two weeks away.
At the time, the tech giant had confirmed that the likes of Nokia S40, Nokia S60, BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 will no longer be supported beginning July 1. While nothing has changed as far as the Nokia S60 is concerned, those using the WhatsApp on Nokia S40, BlackBerry 7+ and BlackBerry 10 operating systems will still be able to enjoy more updates from the company until the end of this year.
This new stand was made public by the co-founder of WhatsApp, Brian Acton, much to the relief of many. However, if you still own a Nokia Symbian and Nokia S60 device, time is almost up. If Nokia runs in your blood, you’ll have to jump to the new Nokia 3, Nokia 5 or Nokia 6 and not the Nokia 3310, because the latter is based on S30+ OS and this version is not supported either.
If you own a Nokia S40 or BlackBerry device using version 7 and above, you still have six more months to enjoy WhatsApp updates and new features. After that, you’ll face the same wrath as Nokia S60 and the likes of iOS 6 as well as Android 2.2 and below, whose support was discontinued earlier this year.
