Unlike Infinix Note 3 and Infinix Zero 4 families, there’s no Android 7.0 upgrade for Infinix Note 2 and Infinix Zero 3.
The two phones were released in 2015, which means they are about two years old as at the time of this writing. Unlike Google devices that are promised two major software upgrades and at least two years of software support, Infinix doesn’t give its users such a luxury.
When the Chinese company released the list of devices that will be updated to the current Android version, there was no room for the 2015 handsets. What the company meant with this statement was that there’s no Android 7.0 upgrade for Infinix Note 2 and Zero 3, which is sad for fans of the two phones.
While it would have made some sense if there was an Android 7.0 upgrade for Infinix Zero 3, especially since the phone was the company’s flagship offering less than two years ago, it appears that Infinix Mobility only takes into account phones that have been around for at least a year.
This is true given that the list of devices to be upgraded to Android Nougat include the likes of Infinix Hot S and Hot 4, all of which have weaker hardware specs compared to the Zero 3, but since they were released later than the Zero 3 and Note 2 for that matter, they get the chance to receive the OTA updates to the new OS.
As for those who have been expecting to get Android 7.0 upgrade for Infinix Note 2 and Zero 3 over the air (OTA), sorry guys! It seems the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow is the final upgrade for these two phones.
