It has been some time since the Moto Z series started receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat, but Lenovo has promised that the Moto Z Play will receive this treat at some point in March.
Well, March is here and in fact, the OS is already rolling out to the Moto Z Play in some regions. While Motorola had confirmed a few days ago that a soak test is on, where the OS was being rolled out to a few devices first to test the waters and follow it up with a mass rollout, Canada’s Telus appears to have stepped ahead of the game.
Apparently, the carrier made the Moto Z Play update to Android 7.0 Nougat available a few days ago, at least according to its software updates page. The OS was out on March 6, which was Monday this week, and it brings v7.0 and not v7.1.1.
If you have not yet received the OTA notification on your Moto Z Play handset, it should be coming in as we speak. Alternatively, you can check for its availability via Settings>About phone>System updates and download it manually. Before doing this, make sure you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi and your phone’s battery is at least 50% full.
Telus now joins the likes of Rogers, Verizon and Republic Wireless in rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the Moto Z Play, all of which started the process this month.
