The Tecno Camon CX and Camon CX Air or otherwise known as Camon C10 and Camon C10 Air will be released on March 23, which is actually Thursday this week.
These two phones have been much anticipated in the Kenyan market and their release couldn’t come at a better time. Even though the Chinese company has remained silent on the exact details of the two phones, we can actually tell what to expect based on rumors, leaks and their predecessors, the Tecno Camon C9 and Camon C9 Plus.
Speaking of the Camon C9, this phone was launched in June 2016, which makes it less than a year old, yet a successor is already being lined up. As noted earlier, details of the upcoming Tecno Camon CX remain unclear, but we expect huge improvements from what was offered last year.
For starters, you should know that the Tecno Camon CX Air is a more compact version of the series. Given that the standard Camon C10 will ship with a 5.5-inch 1080p display screen, the Camon C10 Air will come in with a smaller 5-inch screen alongside a weaker 720p (HD) resolution. The story is the same when it comes to the performance, where the larger model will reportedly come with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, possibly a MediaTek Helio P10, but the 1.5GHz octa-core SoC on the Camon CX Air is still unknown. Despite the different processors, the same 2GB RAM and 16GB storage will be used on both phones.
Both the Tecno Camon CX and Camon CX Air will be powered by the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, which is a great thing for phones that will be priced at about ksh 10,500 or below. With the growing desire for top-notch cameras among Kenyans, Tecno Mobile has something good for you. The Camon C10 gets 16MP sensors on the front and back and both have LED flash, although the main sensor gets more features, for instance, autofocus (AF).
As for the smaller Camon C10 Air, there are two 13MP sensors – one on the back and the other on the front. Similar to the standard Tecno Camon CX, there is LED flash on either camera, but this is about all we have regarding the phones’ optics.
Since the two have different screen sizes, expect different battery capacities, where the Camon C10 will probably come in with a 3200mAh battery unit while the C10 Air will ship with a slightly smaller 3000mAh unit. Despite its size, you should get a better battery life on the smaller model than the larger model because of the fewer display screen pixels that it has to power on its 5-inch HD panel compared to the 5.5-inch 1080p panel on the C10, which has a pixel density of 401ppi.

Tecno Mobile will make the Camon CX and CX Air official at an event that will be held at Nairobi’s Safari Park Hotel on March 23, starting 10 AM. Media invitations have already been sent out for the event, which will also mark the phones’ release across the continent.
The Camon CX is already available for pre-order and in fact, the company is throwing in some really amazing freebies for the first 600 people to place their pre-orders for the phone, including a free 22-inch TV, microwave, and tablet, among others.
