In late April, T-Mobile took to Twitter to announce that Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ will start getting Android 7.0 Nougat update in early May.
Well, this already happened and so far, the attention has now shifted to the phone’s counterparts – the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. These two were unveiled earlier than the S6 Edge+ and apparently, T-Mobile has just begun rolling out the OTA updates to the duo.
This development comes following the carrier’s promise that Android 7.0 Nougat will start rolling out to both Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge this week. Well, the update is now rolling out and anyone who owns any of these two should keep an eye on the OTA notification.
Those on the Galaxy S6 will be receiving firmware version G920TUVU5FQE1 while the Galaxy S6 Edge is getting firmware version G925TUVU5FQE1. It gets even better for those who also own the 2016 Galaxy Tab S2 as this device is also receiving this same treat.
It’s been a while since the 2015 Galaxy Tab S2 started receiving the Nougat treat and now that the 2016 variant on T-Mobile has joined the party, the update should make it to other markets in the coming days. The Tab S2 is getting the Nougat update with firmware version T817TUVU2BQE2 and even though the sizes of these updates are unknown, you can expect files that weigh well over 1GB.
As with OTA updates, not all units of the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Galaxy Tab S2 will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat at once. It might take days or even a week before all units receive the OTA notification.
Rather than wait, try checking the update manually via Settings>About device>System updates, but make sure you have a fast Wi-Fi internet connection and battery power of at least 50% before going this channel. The story is the same even with the OTA update.
