T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Priv Starts Receiving February Android Security Patch

BlackBerry Priv

The wait for Android 7.0 Nougat update is still on for BlackBerry Priv users on T-Mobile, but at least, there is something to keep your Marshmallow-powered phone up to date.

Apparently, the American carrier is rolling out the latest Android security patch to the BlackBerry Priv. This 2015 flagship is still running on the same year’s Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but the update brings build number AAJ043 alongside upping the security patch level to the month of February.

T-Mobile started rolling out the update on Valentine’s Day and it weighs about 123MB, although the carrier recommends that you should spare about 200MB on your BlackBerry Priv specifically for this update. Also, make sure that the battery power is at least 50% and there’s a stable internet connection, be it cellular or Wi-Fi, but the latter is better.

So far, there is no mention of any new features that this update brings to the table, but since it is just a monthly security update, you can only expect a few bug fixes alongside general system performance and stability updates. If the OTA hasn’t hit your BlackBerry Priv just yet, you can try the manual way by heading to Apps>Settings>About phone>System updates>Check for updates. If it’s ready, go ahead and download and then hit the “Restart & Install” option to complete the update.
