Shortly after rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the Xperia XA and XA Ultra, Sony has just started pushing the updated Android 7.1.1 Nougat to the midrange Xperia X and X Compact.
These two phones will not be receiving new models in 2017 as Sony has reportedly discontinued the category, however, the company isn’t showing any signs of complacency when it comes to pushing out software updates to the pair.
Towards the end of April, the same Android 7.1.1 Nougat OTA updates were made available for the high-end Xperia XZ and Xperia X Performance, but attention has now shifted to their understudies, which are receiving software version 34.3.A.0.194.
The Xperia X and X Compact were already running Android 7.0 Nougat and as such, this is just an incremental update to the newer version. The OS is rolling out over the air and as usual with OTA updates, it will take some time before all units of the Xperia X and X Compact are actually updated.
It’s also possible that the update is region dependent, which means it could take time before reaching to all markets where the two Xperia X phones are available. Still, you may want to check for its availability manually by heading to your phone’s Settings>About phone, but this doesn’t guarantee that you’ll indeed get it.
