Sony Xperia X and X Compact start getting January Android Security Patches

Sony Xperia X and Xperia X Compact

Sony Xperia X and Xperia X Compact were released last year and back then, they came preinstalled with Android Marshmallow. But Sony has been impressive with rolling out software updates lately, with these two already running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.

The update to Android 7.0 Nougat started rolling out last year and in fact, users of these phones are eager to know when the newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat is coming to their devices. Well, this might take some time as Sony runs tests to ensure that you don’t run into so many issues once the OTA is out.

Still, there is something new for Sony Xperia X and Xperia X Compact users out there. The company has begun rolling out the latest Android Security Patch for the month of January for both phones. The update is not a major one and as such, it isn’t that big, weighing at about 147.9MB. The update ups the security patch level of the phones to January 1, 2017, and brings the software build number to 34.2.A.0.292, up from 34.2.A.0.273.
