Sony is rolling out a new firmware update for Xperia X and the smaller Xperia X Compact.
These two are already using Android 7.0 Nougat and even though users are eagerly waiting for the newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat (currently in beta channel), the latest OTA update has nothing to do with this updated Nougat version.
What you only get on your Sony Xperia X and X Compact is the latest Android security patch for the month of April. This is better from Sony, especially since the update was released just last week to Google Pixel and Nexus devices. While Google shortly followed this security update with another update to Android 7.1.2 Nougat, those using the Xperia X phones will have to keep waiting for a newer version of Nougat to show up, which will be v7.1.1.
The update comes with software version 34.2.A.2.47 and so far, the only things we expect from it are the aforementioned security patch as well as stability and performance enhancements. Sony hasn’t detailed out an official changelog of what it brings, but we’ll keep you updated in case of anything.
Meanwhile, feel free to let us know about any changes that the new update brings to your Sony Xperia X and X Compact via the comments section below.
