A few days ago, Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2015) appeared on the Wi-Fi Alliance with Android 7.0 Nougat on board, a suggestion that the device will soon be updated to the new Android OS.
When this happened, some owners of the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 (2015) were asking what will happen to their model. Well, it took less than a week for you to find out the fate of this tablet. The same body has just cleared this tablet with Android 7.0 Nougat, which also indicates that Samsung will soon be rolling out the OS to the tablet, probably alongside the 8-inch model.
There are multiple variants of the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 (2015) that have been cleared by the Wi-Fi Alliance and these include the Wi-Fi and LTE variants. Where the former has model numbers SM-T550 and SM-T550X on the listing, the latter category has model numbers SM-T555, SM-T555C, and SM-T555Y. The listing also includes model number SM-T557, all of which have Android 7.0 Nougat on board.
Despite the clearance by Wi-Fi Alliance, the date of release is not known, but it shouldn’t be long before the slate starts receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat. Note that this will be the second and final update this device receives for it has already received one update, which carried Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
