It’s now known to every Sammy fan that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus handsets will come with a digital AI assistant on board known as Bixby.
In order to set itself apart from the rest of the digital AI Assistants that include the likes of Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Microsoft Cortana and Apple Siri, Samsung will reportedly be equipping Bixby with a bunch of unique abilities that include image or rather visual recognition. But according to the latest developments, this is not all.
When Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus launch next month, Bixby will be capable of interacting in up to seven or eight different languages, more than what the much-hyped Google Assistant can manage with the Pixel and Pixel XL phones. At the time of this writing, you can only interact with the Google AI voice assistant in five languages that include English, Portuguese, German, Hindi, and Brazilian. As for Bixby, reports are rife that more languages will be included, among them Chinese and Korean.
Samsung wants to position the new Bixby AI assistant as one of the major features that will drive the sales of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus and in offering support for more languages at launch, the company believes that it will have an excellent start to life. Still, the S8 will not be the end of Bixby as the report says that the assistant will sooner or later find its way to other Sammy products, including TVs, washing machines as well as refrigerators. This reiterates a previous claim that Bixby will also be part of the upcoming Samsung Gear S4, although this is not confirmed just yet.
The same report also adds that Samsung Galaxy S8 will be announced at a special event in New York on March 29, with the official release set to take place starting April 20, just like previous rumors had pointed out.
