A few weeks ago, the first Samsung Galaxy Note 5 handset received the update to Android 7.0 Nougat, but this was only reported in Europe’s Turkey.
However, it seems Samsung has just started rolling out the Nougat update for the Galaxy Note 5 carrying model number SM-N920G. Even though this model is mostly found in India, you’ll also find other markets with the same variant of the Note 5.
The update is rolling out over the air, meaning that it will take time before all units can actually download and install it normally. If you are using a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, however, you can do a manual check and see if the update is ready to download on your phone. This requires that you visit the Settings app and tap on the About phone section at the bottom of the menu. It is here that you can find the System updates menu that lets you check for available updates.
Since the update is rolling out to those using Samsung Galaxy Note 5 handsets with model number SM-N920G, you don’t need to go through the above hassles if you are on a different variant. We also hope that Sammy will be rolling out the Nougat update to other Note 5 handsets in different markets across the globe.
Note that this is an update from Android Marshmallow to Android Nougat and as such, it’s heavy, weighing close to 1.1GB. As a result, make sure you download it over a Wi-Fi network. Furthermore, keep the phone’s battery charge at 50% and above during the process or simply connect it to a power source. The update has software version N920GDDU3CQC7.
