Samsung Galaxy C5 Pro and its bigger sibling Galaxy C7 Pro are now available for purchase in Kenya exclusively at Avechi.
The two were released earlier this year, with the Galaxy C7 Pro making its debut in February followed by the C5 Pro in March. As you can expect from a pair of midrangers from Samsung, the two have great builds, picking up from where the standard Galaxy C5 and C7 left off with metallic unibody designs and an attractive set of hardware specs.
In Kenya, the two can only be found on Avechi, which is one of the leading smartphone retailers not only in the country but also in the whole of East Africa. The retailer is selling the Galaxy C5 Pro at a decent price of Ksh 31,499 while the high-end Galaxy C7 Pro has a price tag of Ksh 35,899. But what do you get for these price tags? Read on.
Samsung Galaxy C5 Pro and Galaxy C7 Pro have the same designs and also share a bunch of specs, but just like their names, you also get a few differences here and there. Where the former ships with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display screen with a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), the latter has a bigger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with the same resolution. This means that the Galaxy C5 Pro has a sharper display compared to the C7 Pro, but if you love big, the C7 Pro is a decent choice.
Under the hood, the duo is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor – an octa-core chipset with a clock speed of 2.2GHz mated with an Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB RAM. Both have the same 64GB of expandable storage, with the microSD card slot capable of handling up to 256GB, but this would mean you do away with the second SIM card.
Similar to the performance specs, the Galaxy C5 Pro and C7 Pro also come with the same camera specs. The back has a 16MP shooter that boasts a decent aperture of f/1.9 for enhanced performance in low-light conditions and this is supported by a dual-tone LED flash, autofocus, HDR, panorama and 1080p video recording. The front panel has the same 16MP shooter that also keeps an f/1.9 aperture that promises top-notch selfies even when in poorly lit conditions.
Due to the differences in screen size, the two have different battery capacities as well. The smaller Samsung Galaxy C5 Pro has a measly 2600mAh unit while the Galaxy C7 Pro takes this to the next level with a massive 3300mAh unit on board. None of these batteries is removable, but it’s only the C7 Pro that supports fast charging technology.
The pair has the latest USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, but you still get a 3.5mm audio jack. In terms of software, the newer Galaxy C5 Pro has the latest Android 7.0 Nougat running the show out of the box while the C7 Pro has Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but an update to Nougat should come at some point in future.
Other features the two bring to the fold include a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, 4G LTE connectivity, active noise cancellation, Bluetooth 4.2 and a series of other sensors that include an accelerometer, proximity, compass, and gyro.
