[Update: Galaxy A7 2016 Joins the Party] Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 Android 7.0 Nougat OTA is Rolling Out

Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 and Galaxy A7 2016

About two weeks ago, the Wi-Fi Alliance cleared Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 and Galaxy A7 2016 with Android 7.0 Nougat, confirming that the OTA update would be released soon.

Well, ‘soon’ is here as the Nougat update is now rolling out to Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 with build number A510FXXU4CQDK. This update bumps the installed OS from Android Marshmallow to the new Android Nougat and as you can see from the model number in question – SM-A510F – the update is being pushed in Europe.

So far, users of Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 in Russia have started receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat and what this means is that other European markets – and eventually the globe – will be receiving the update throughout this month of May.

As expected, this update will pack your Galaxy A5 2016 handset with all the Nougat goodies, including an enhanced doze mode, an enhanced notification system, quick settings, multi-view mode for apps as well as some lovely tweaks to the UI. Your Galaxy A5 2016 will also be updated to the latest Android security patch for the month of April.

As noted at the beginning, the Galaxy A7 2016 was also cleared with Android 7.0 Nougat, but this device has yet to start receiving the new OS. Nonetheless, it shouldn’t be long before this handset joins the party alongside the Galaxy A3 2016 as well as the entire Galaxy A 2017 series.Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 and Galaxy A7 2016

The OS is rolling out over the air and as such, it will take some time before all units receive the OTA notification. You can force the update to download on your phone by going to Settings>About phone>System updates>Check for updates.

Update: After Europe, Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 and Galaxy A7 2016 users in India can now download and install the latest update to Android 7.0 Nougat. The update weighs about 986MB and 970MB, respectively, so make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection in order to get through the update process seamlessly.

We don’t know if the update has already started rolling out in other markets other than Europe (Russia) and India. But it’s possible the wider rollout of the OS to the A5 and A7 2016 is on. Let us know if you have received it in your comments below.
