Samsung is currently updating the Galaxy A5 2016 and the same year’s Galaxy Tab A, but the latter is only targeting the S Pen variant.
Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 is receiving an update that carries software version A510MUBS3CQF1, the Galaxy Tab A 2016 is receiving a similar June Android security patch with software version P585JXU2BQF1. The update, as expected, is rolling out over the air and as such, it will not hit the pair at the same time.
As usual with any Android security update, this one also carries a bunch of bug fixes and performance enhancements. So far, the exact size of the updates is still unclear, but being typical monthly software updates, don’t expect anything out of the norm.
Nonetheless, when you get the OTA notification, ensure that you have a stable Wi-Fi connection around you. Also keep the phone connected to a power source when carrying out the upgrade process, unless the battery already had 50%+ power.
Alongside the Galaxy A5 2016 and Galaxy Tab A 2016 is the Galaxy Tab Iris. Like the duo, this one is also getting a June Android security update that ups the installed software version to T116IRDDU1BQF1. The update is also rolling out over the air and as such, it might take some time before all Tab Iris units receive the OTA notification.
If you can’t wait for the system-generated notification, you may also try doing a manual update by heading to Settings>About device, but this isn’t a guarantee that you’ll get the update right away.
