If you want to know just how compact the LG G6 is despite its massive 5.7-inch display screen, you need to look back at perhaps the LG V20 and LG G5 from 2016.
The G6 measures 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm. As for the LG V20, which has the same 5.7-inch display screen as the former, you have a massive block measuring 159.7 x 78.1 x 7.6 mm. Interestingly, the G6 is even more compact than the 5.3-inch LG G5, which measures 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm.
In addition to fitting a huge display screen on a significantly small frame, LG Electronics also debuted a new display property on the LG G6 – an aspect ratio of 18:9 rather than the usual 16:9. As you can see, this property means that the panel is slightly taller than usual, but it keeps the same width.
Now, in a new development, word on the street has it that there’s an LG G6 Mini on the way and apparently, this device will keep the same 18:9 aspect ratio. The report says that the “LG G6 Mini” tag is not the official name of the phone, however, it confirms that the phone will pack a 5.4-inch display screen, slightly bigger than the G5.
In addition to keeping the same aspect ratio as its bigger sibling, the alleged LG G6 Mini will also stick to a screen-to-body ratio that is just under 80%, probably similar to the 78.6% found on the standard G6. As for the specs and other features – including price and potential release date – the report doesn’t give out the details.
One strange part of this report, however, is that it claims the LG G6 Mini document is dated early 2016, which could mean the phone was planned but later scrapped. In short, there are still uncertainties over this report and as such, don’t be too quick to believe it, at least until more official details come out.
