A lot has been said about the upcoming iPhone 8, but it remains unknown whether Apple will accompany the flagship with a Plus variant like with the case of the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus.
Even before the said iPhone 8 breaks cover, rumors of the phone’s successor have already started doing rounds on the internet. According to reports, Apple has already started plans for the 2018 model, which will reportedly be called iPhone 8S Max.
This is a strange choice of names, but given the instances the Plus moniker has been appearing on phones lately, it’s possible that Apple would want to stay unique in the business. As you may have already guessed, the MAX tag comes in thanks to the size of the phone, which will reportedly feature a massive 6.2-inch OLED display screen, same size as the current Samsung Galaxy S8+.
If the same reports are to be believed, the alleged iPhone 8S MAX will keep the same design language as the upcoming iPhone 8, but unlike the latter which will reportedly come with an overall size that is close to the standard iPhone 7, the 8S MAX will be close to the size of the iPhone 7 Plus or maybe a little smaller.
Given that the details of the iPhone 8 are still unclear at the moment, it would be a little naïve to think that the latest reports on iPhone 8S MAX are 100% accurate. Nonetheless, the current trend in the smartphone market is an indicator that Apple may have to come in with such a big screen device sooner than later.
