We have known for a while now that a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is to be released in the coming weeks.
Back in March, a report came in suggesting that the phone, which will be baptized Samsung Galaxy Note 7R, will be sold at a bargain in order to attract more people on board. Apparently, the Galaxy Note 7R will be released in South Korea first before heading to other yet-to-be-confirmed markets across the globe.
A report back in April mentioned that the Galaxy Note 7R will come in priced at about 700,000 Korean Won, which is about $620. Originally, the Note 7 was priced at about $870 in the same country, which means the company will be slamming a massive $250 price cut on the phone. Well, this was just a rumor at the time.
According to a new report, the Galaxy Note 7R has just started selling in China priced at CNY 3599. When converted, this amounts to an impressive $520, which is $350 cheaper than the original price of the Note 7 in the same market. This report coincides with another report put forward by The Investor claiming that rumors are pointing towards a price tag that is almost 50% cheaper. This report also claims that the Note 7R will be here this month, contrary to previous reports that had pointed to a late June release date.
This report also claims that the Note 7R will be here this month, contrary to previous reports that had pointed to a late June release date. Those who have already gotten their hands on the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7R have pictures of the phone to showcase, with the back panel featuring an R, possibly an indicator that it’s the refurbished version.
Apparently, the refurbished Note 7 has two variants, with the only difference being the battery capacity. Where one has kept the same 3500mAh unit, the other has a smaller 3200mAh unit. This also goes hand in hand with previous appearance of two models of the Note 7 on Wi-Fi Alliance, where one had the original’s model number of SM-N930 while the other had the refurbished variant’s model number of SM-N935.
Samsung has yet to make the Galaxy Note 7R official but now that it appears folks in China are already buying this phone, it won’t be long before other regions get the same treat.
