You’ve probably heard of the Tecno Camon C9, right? Well, the upcoming Tecno Camon CX is the successor to the C9 and it will be going official on March 23, which is just a few days away.
In order to pull in more potential buyers than what the Tecno Camon C9 racked, the smartphone maker has an amazing deal running as at the time of this writing. Apparently, the Tecno Camon CX is already available for pre-order via various outlets across the country.
Accompanying the pre-orders are quite an interesting set of gifts, but there are some twists to how you can qualify for these gifts. If you happen to be the first person to pre-order the Tecno Camon CX, you stand a chance to get a free 22-inch TV. However, this also requires that you pay for the phone in full at checkout, which is ksh 10,500. The second and third people to pre-order the phone stand a chance of winning a Microwave thanks to a raffle ticket that will only be given to you if you pay ksh 8,500 at checkout.
If you miss out on these three deals, placing your pre-order as the fourth or fifth person will earn you a chance to win a free tablet, but you must part with ksh 7,500 in order to qualify. Those who don’t make this first cut but happen to fall between number 6 and 600 in the list of pre-orders will also stand a chance to win themselves a kettle, iron box or a T band.
Even though the Tecno Camon CX has been confirmed for launch on Thursday this week, the details of the phone’s specs and features are still unclear. However, being a successor to the Camon C9, we expect to see upgrades over the previous model, but others could remain unchanged. So far, the Camon C9 ships with a top-notch 5.5-inch 1080p LCD display screen, but the specs under the hood are a little underwhelming.
The MediaTek MT6753 processor that powers the phone was released in 2014, which makes it really old. Hopefully, the Tecno Camon CX comes with a newer and more powerful processor, but don’t be surprised if the RAM remained at 2GB, although some rumors are pointing at 3GB. The storage of the C9 is 16GB with room to expand it via a microSD card of up to 128GB – don’t expect any major changes on this front.

The C9 has 13MP shooters on the back and front with LED flash, but only the main camera supports autofocus. Rumors are rife that the Camon CX could come in with dual-lens cameras, but looking at the pricing and the deals the company is throwing in, this is quite too far. The Tecno C9 has a 3000mAh battery that is charged via a microUSB port and runs Android Marshmallow out of the box, which should be stepped up to Android 7.0 Nougat for the new Camon CX. All these are enclosed in a nicely built metallic unibody that measures 10.35mm thick.
