Oppo is known for releasing phones that closely resemble the Apple iPhone in terms of design and finish. While the Oppo F3 doesn’t stray from this trend, the tech giant wants to make the phone look even more like the latest iPhone 7 Plus with a new black edition.
When Apple released the iPhone 7, the Cupertino Company confirmed a brand new jet black edition. Due to its gorgeous looks, this color variant has never been enough for the masses. Now, the Oppo F3 is already available in the usual Oppo – and Apple – colors of gold and rose gold, but the Chinese OEM has a new black edition in the works that is set for a June 4 release.
When the Oppo F3 launched a while ago, it was confirmed with a price tag of Rs 19,990 in India and Ksh 32,990 in Kenya. Even with the new and better-looking finish in black, the phone’s price is not expected to change. Furthermore, the markets that have already received the two phones – including the Oppo F3 Plus – will receive the same treat.
The Oppo F3 and F3 Plus have just about the same hardware specs and features apart from a few tweaks here and there. Where the former has a 5.5-inch 1080p screen with Gorilla Glass 5 and a 3200mAh battery unit, the latter has a 6-inch 1080p display screen with Glass 5 and a bigger 4000mAh battery unit. The two have the same camera specs – a dual 16MP+8MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera – as well as the same 4GB RAM, but the Oppo F3 has a weaker MediaTek MT6750T SoC compared to the more powerful Snapdragon 653 SoC used on the F3 Plus.
Both phones have Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s ColorOS 3.0 skin on top. So far, we don’t know if the black edition will be coming to the Kenyan market, but we’ll for sure let you know when it does.
