OnePlus 2 is the next member of the OnePlus family that is expected to be updated to the new Android 7.0 Nougat. This follows the rollout of the same OS to the newer OnePlus 3 and 3T just before the end of 2016.
OnePlus had promised that both OnePlus 3 and 3T will be updated to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS before the end of 2016. Even though this deadline was tough to meet, the Chinese OEM managed to achieve it, at least in some time zones. Now, the next in line is the OnePlus 2, the 2015 flagship that was also listed for the update.
While OnePlus 3 and 3T receive the Nougat-based OxygenOS 4.0, the OnePlus 2 is receiving OxygenOS 3.5.5. As you may already know, this latter version is still based on Android Marshmallow, but it is the former that brings the latest Android OS to the OnePlus devices. According to the update, those using OnePlus 2 and have been experiencing network connectivity issues, this is the solution to all those issues. With this update, the OnePlus 2 is edging closer to joining the likes of OnePlus 3 and 3T on using OxygenOS 4.0, which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The current update will come as a gift for those who have been having network issues on their OnePlus 2 handsets. Since it is meant to reach your device as an OTA, not all OnePlus 2 handsets will receive the update at once. Instead, it will take some time before all units get the OTA notification and go-ahead to download and install.
OnePlus 2 was launched in 2015 and it is possible that this upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat update will be the last major software update it gets. We’ll let you know when this rollout begins.
