Finally, China’s Vivo has confirmed a list of devices and dates that Android 7.1 Nougat will be rolling out to and even though a little late, it’s better than never.
Some Vivo users might not be impressed that their devices will be updated to Android 7.1 Nougat at a time when others will be receiving the upcoming Android 8.0, but still, it’s good to see the OEM stepping up its game as far as rolling out software updates is concerned.
As expected, the Vivo X9 Plus will be the first to get the update to Android 7.1 Nougat thanks to the fact that it was just unveiled late last year. It gets even better knowing that the company is opening a beta program for those who’d wish to gain early access to the OS.
The update will be rolled out over the air to the Vivo X9 Plus, same story as the standard X9 and the Xplay 6. However, those on the other devices that have been confirmed to receive the update will have to do it manually by flashing ROMs that will be made available for download when ready. The new Android 7.1 Nougat will also come with a new Funtouch OS 3.1 skin on top.
