Nokia finally made its return to the mobile phone industry when it launched the Nokia 6 midrange phone at the CES 2017 show earlier this month.
While there have been rumors that the tech giant is working on another Nokia phone that targets the high-end market, details of this device have remained vague all this time. But it seems the Finnish giant is indeed working on the said flagship, if at all the latest leaks are to be believed.
Through a respond to a concerned Nokia fan from China, the country’s branch might have confirmed the details of this phone, but don’t be too excited just yet. Apparently, Nokia China notes that it needs some time to prepare a flagship smartphone that is powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, just like earlier rumors had pointed out. The main reason the company gives out as to why there is no announcement made for a phone based on this processor is that the latter is still new after Qualcomm announced it at the CES 2017. But with the likes of LG G6, Xiaomi Mi 6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 expected to ship with this SoC this Q1 2017, don’t be surprised to see a Nokia flagship based on the same processor configuration.
If a Snapdragon 835 processor makes its way to a supposed Nokia P1 phone, we can also expect things like 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB of expandable storage, a great camera on both ends and the latest Android software. In short, the flagship Nokia phone will be a beast – much more like Samsung Galaxy S8 and other 2017 flagships. But as for now, all we can do is hope for this mysterious phone to at least show up at the upcoming MWC 2017 event, especially now that HMD Global, the company that currently owns the Nokia brand name, has already confirmed its attendance.
