Following in the footsteps of the Nokia 3, HMD Global will start selling the Nokia 5 in India as from tomorrow, August 15.
The Nokia 3 started selling in the region back in June priced at Rs 9,499 and it’s now the turn of the Nokia 5, which will be available for Rs 12,499. Similar to its counterpart, the new entrant will also be sold through offline stores.
Just to give you a heads up of what you are up against, the Nokia 5 has a decent build that is accompanied by a 5.2-inch HD display screen with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass on top. Under the hood, the phone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, an octa-core clocked at 1.4GHz and paired with a RAM of 2GB and 16GB of expandable internal storage.
The variant selling in India will support dual-SIM 4G connectivity and similar to other markets, Android 7.1.1 Nougat will run the show out of the box. This is a clutter-free version of Android, which should also mean software updates will be at par with Google Nexus and Pixel phones. Keeping the Nokia 5 alive is a 3000mAh battery unit that should be enough to last a day or even more depending on your usage patterns.
In terms of photography, the Nokia 5 has a 13MP shooter on the back with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and autofocus while the front gets an 8MP shooter with the same aperture and autofocus as well. You will be able to grab the phone in up to four color variants of Silver, Matte Black, Copper and Tempered Blue.
A week later, starting August 23, folks in India will be able to get their hands on the Nokia 6 via Amazon India.
