[Update: Moto X Style Nougat Rolling Out] Moto X Pure Edition Android 7.0 Nougat Update Ready for Download

Moto X Pure Edition, Moto X Style, Android 7.0 Nougat

Otherwise known as the Moto X Style, Motorola has confirmed that the Moto X Pure Edition is now ready to receive the update to Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

A few weeks ago, the tech giant took the Moto X Pure Edition into its soak test program, where a few users of the device were greeted with the new Android 7.0 Nougat OS, but it was in beta. As with other beta tests, Motorola’s soak test for the Pure Edition was meant to iron out any issues in the Nougat OS before making it available to the rest of the public.

Apparently, this ironing out is done and now the update can be downloaded to the 2015 flagship over the air. Given that OTA updates usually come out in stages, don’t be surprised if the week ends before you get the notification to download the OS on your Moto X Pure Edition. In case this happens, don’t panic, instead, you just have to wait for your turn and it’ll be here sooner than you think.

If you can’t wait, it’s possible to do a manual update of your Moto X Pure Edition to Android 7.0 Nougat. Simply go to Settings>About phone>System update> Check for updates manually. This path, however, doesn’t guarantee you the update for it might not be ready for your device just yet.

Moto X Pure Edition Nougat, Moto X Style Nougat

As pointed out earlier, the Moto X Pure Edition is known as Moto X Style outside the U.S. Now that the U.S. variant has been confirmed for the update, we also expect to see the international variant doing the same, but we cannot confirm whether it’ll happen at the same time. Still, you can expect the usual variations of rolling out the OS, meaning that not all units will get the OS at the same time. In short, the process could take weeks or even a month before all Moto X Pure Edition units receive the Nougat treat.

Update: The Moto X Style has just started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat OTA. This is the international variant of the Moto X Pure Edition and so far it’s getting an update with firmware version NPH25.200-15. In addition to installing Android 7.0 Nougat, the update also ups the security patch level of the Moto X Style to May 2017 and installs Google Duo voice and video calling app.

According to Tech Droider, this Nougat update is rolling out in Brazil, but it should hit other regions in the coming days. You can also check manually for its availability via Settings>About phone>Software updates, but make sure your phone’s battery is at least 50% full.

    1. Yep. Believe it when I see it. By the time my MXPE gets Nougat, I’ll already have a phone with Android 8 on it. I’ll never buy another Motorola phone for myself again while Lenovo is in charge.
