Otherwise known as the Moto X Style, Motorola has confirmed that the Moto X Pure Edition is now ready to receive the update to Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
A few weeks ago, the tech giant took the Moto X Pure Edition into its soak test program, where a few users of the device were greeted with the new Android 7.0 Nougat OS, but it was in beta. As with other beta tests, Motorola’s soak test for the Moto X Style was meant to iron out any issues in the Nougat OS before making it available to the rest of the public.
Apparently, this ironing out is done and now the update can be downloaded to the 2015 flagship over the air. Given that OTA updates usually come out in stages, don’t be surprised if the week ends before you get the notification to download the OS on your Moto X Pure Edition. In case this happens, don’t panic, instead, you just have to wait for your turn and it’ll be here sooner than you think.
If you can’t wait, it’s possible to do a manual update of your Moto X Pure Edition to Android 7.0 Nougat. Simply go to Settings>About phone>System update> Check for updates manually. This path, however, doesn’t guarantee you the update for it might not be ready for your device just yet.
As pointed out earlier, the Moto X Pure Edition is known as Moto X Style outside the U.S. Now that the U.S. variant has been confirmed for the update, we also expect to see the international variant doing the same, but we cannot confirm whether it’ll happening at the same time. Still, you can expect the usual variations of rolling out the OS based on regions. In short, the process could take weeks or even a month before all Moto X Pure Edition and Moto X Style handsets receive the Nougat treat.
