If you own a Moto X Force smartphone and you bought the phone in Latin America, the regions’ Motorola wing has confirmed that the handset has just started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat over the air (OTA).
With the update now confirmed for Latin America, it’s obvious that other markets will soon be receiving the same treat. Given that this is a major OS upgrade, the update is huge and with it comes a bunch of new and exciting features, giving the 2015 device some needed greasing.
You’ve probably heard or read somewhere about what Android 7.0 Nougat brings. All of these goodies, including multi-window support, enhanced battery saving mode, Quick Reply feature via the notification and more, are coming to the Moto X Force via this update. In addition, the handset will also be updated with a newer version of the monthly security patch, bumping it to April 2017.
It’s possible that some Moto X Force owners are already enjoying this update as at the time of this writing. But since the OS is rolling out over the air, it will take some time before all units are updated. So, if you don’t see the notification to download the update today, don’t panic. It’ll be there sooner than later. If waiting is a problem, you may also try doing a manual update by going to Settings>About phone>System updates>Check for updates.
As noted earlier, it’s a big update that will require lots of data to completely download. If data is a problem for you, make sure you are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi before you download it. Also, ensure that the battery is at least 50% or connect the phone to a power source during the upgrade process.
In the U.S., the Moto X Force is exclusive to Verizon and it goes by the name Moto Droid Turbo 2. This phone was updated to Android 7.0 Nougat back in February. The 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (Moto X Style) has also been given this Nougat treat.
