Huawei is the third-largest smartphone shipping company in the world behind Samsung and Apple. Like Samsung, the company has numerous devices out there ranging from high-end models to entry-level handsets sold in developing markets.
With this in mind, many should be out there wondering when their Huawei phone will be updated to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. While the OEM has remained silent on these dates, a new leak has come out showing the company’s supposed roadmap as far as rolling out the Nougat OTA is concerned.
The list, which was obtained by GizChina, includes some devices that have already been updated to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS. These include the Huawei P9, P9 Plus and the Mate 8. The Huawei Mate 9 debuted with Android Nougat out of the box and as such, those using this phone are waiting for the update to version 7.1.1, just like those who have already received it.
If anything, Huawei has already rolled out the Nougat update to its flagship devices from the recent past. Now that this is done, the attention should now shift to midrangers led by the recent Huawei NOVA and NOVA Plus. These two, according to the leaked info, should start seeing Android 7.0 Nougat as from March 2017. The Huawei G9 Plus and Honor Note 8 will then come in starting April 2017 while the MediaPad M3 tablet and Honor 6X will join the party in May.
The update to Android 7.0 Nougat will also come with a new EMUI 5.0 skin that made its debut with the Mate 9 back in November 2016, although the phone was also re-announced at the just-ended CES 2017 tech show.
Since this is not official from Huawei, be sure to take the leak with a grain of salt.
