If you live in Europe or rather Germany, the Huawei Honor 8 has an update for you. Apparently, those in Deutschland can now get their hands on the latest Android security patch for the month of February.
The update comes at a time when Google is about to roll out this month’s Android security patch to the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and the two Pixel phones from 2016. Since the Huawei Honor 8 in this region has already been updated to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, this small update is based on the new EMUI 5.0 skin that runs on top of the stock OS.
Since this is an OTA update, not all Huawei Honor 8 handsets will receive the notification to download it at once. The process of rolling out will be gradual and as such, it could take days before it hits your phone. If you can’t wait, you can do a manual scan of the Honor servers and see if the update is ready for your phone. This needs you to go to Settings>About device>System updates, but it’s not a guarantee that you’ll find the download files ready for your phone.
The new firmware comes with build number B380, but your Honor 8 must be updated to the most recent version first (B360) before it can receive the latest version. In short, make sure that your phone has firmware version B360 before trying to get the latest build. Like any other monthly update, you will also notice a few performance improvements alongside bug fixes, but this is not specific.
Since this February Android security patch is now confirmed for the Huawei Honor 8 in Germany, the same should also be headed to different markets across the continent. We’ll be here to let you know when this happens. Stay tuned!
