Infinix Mobility has an event coming up on April 10 and according to the company, there’s a new device being lined up for a release and this is the Infinix S2.
One might want to call it the Infinix Hot S2 because it’s the successor to the outgoing Infinix Hot S. However, the tech company recently confirmed that it will be dropping the “Hot” tag as it bids to welcome a new “Wefie” phone.
Even though details of the specs and features of the Infinix S2 are still elusive, the “Wefie” tag, from the teasers, could be a suggestion that the upcoming phone will feature a dual-lens wide-angle selfie camera. After Tecno Mobile unveiled the selfie-focused Tecno Camon CX series, it appears that Infinix is also ready to jump into the selfie craze with a small perk of its own.
As for the internal specs, the Infinix S2 should come powered by a MediaTek MT6753 SoC, an octa-core chipset clocked at a speed of 1.3GHz, at least according to a benchmark report on Geekbench. The same report further reveals that the S2 will also ship with a 2GB RAM and a disappointing Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. At a time when the aforementioned Tecno Camon CX or even the Tecno L9 Plus are shipping with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, this could be a deal break for the Infinix S2.
Considering that the Infinix S2 is coming to succeed the original Hot S, we expect some upgrades when compared to what the previous model came with. However, this benchmark suggests otherwise – that the same MT6753 SoC that powered the Infinix Hot S and 2GB RAM will still be on board. At this point in time, we can’t tell whether a 3GB RAM variant will also join the party like it happened with the original model.
The outgoing model has a 5.2-inch display screen with a 1080p resolution, something that could be retained as well. Whether the 13MP rear sensor used on the Hot S will still be retained or not is still anyone’s guess, but as noted earlier, we could be in for a nicer treat when it comes to the selfie shooter. The company has teased some stunning images that reveal a dual-lens selfie camera, where one is expected to be a wide-angle lens for taking group selfies. The 3000mAh battery unit could also be retained, with Infinix possibly sticking to microUSB connectivity.
From some of the images teased by Infinix Mobility, it is possible that the Infinix S2 could come in three color variants that include blue, pink and white (not the best with colors here, but you can try your luck with what’s in the image above).
Be sure to treat some of these as rumors because not all are coming from Infinix Mobility (but most are). However, we should be able to know more details sooner than later. Keep following us!
