[Update: Infinix Zero 4 also gets Nougat] Infinix Note 3 and Note 3 Pro Android 7.0 Nougat OTA Update is Rolling Out

Infinix Note 3, Infinix Note 3 Pro Android 7.0 Nougat

In early April, an official report came in with details of Android 7.0 Nougat release dates for a number of Infinix Mobility smartphones.

At the time, it was noted that users of Infinix Note 3 will be among the first to receive the update to Android 7.0 Nougat before the end of this month. Previous reports had claimed that the Note 3 will get the Nougat treat at some point in mid-April. Apparently, this report was on point as it appears that some users of the smartphone are already receiving the OTA notification to download and install the new OS on their phones.

The update to Android 7.0 Nougat is not just rolling out to the standard Infinix Note 3 variant, rather, those who are using the high-end Infinix Note 3 Pro variant are also part of the update. These two share just about every specs and features apart from the fact that the Note 3 Pro has slightly better performance thanks to more RAM.

As for the Nougat update, it weighs about 1.6GB, which is really huge and that’s why the OEM recommends that you connect your Infinix Note 3 or Note 3 Pro to a Wi-Fi hotspot before proceeding with the download. Also, do check that the battery juice is at least 30%, otherwise, connect your phone to a power source. If your device is rooted, Infinix Mobility warns that the update could leave it crashed.

In addition to coming in with Android 7.0 Nougat, the update also carries additional XOS-based optimizations such as new fingerprint recognition functions, a new HiFont in XTheme and a few nifty ways of changing wallpapers, among others.

Do keep in mind that the update is rolling out over the air (OTA) and as such, it’ll take some time before all Infinix Note 3 and Note 3 Pro users are able to download and install it on their devices. You can do a manual check for its availability on your phone by going to Settings>About phone>System updates, but this doesn’t guarantee that you’ll find the Nougat files ready. Alternatively, you can just relax and wait for the OTA notification, which won’t be long before it arrives.

While Infinix Mobility had also mentioned that the Zero 4 will be receiving Android 7.0 Nougat before the end of this month, this has yet to materialize. However, now that the update is rolling out to Infinix Note 3 and Note 3 Pro, it shouldn’t be long before the same treat heads the Zero 4’s way. We’ll let you know when it does. Stay tuned!
