Huawei P9 Lite is one of the best-selling phones not just in Kenya, but also in other markets across Africa, Asia, and Europe. However, the phone has now been replaced with a new Huawei P10 Lite, which is obviously ahead of its predecessor in terms of specs, features as well as price.
What has made the Huawei P9 Lite one of the best are the facts that the phone packs some of the best hardware specs out there, yet it is available at an affordable price. The P10 Lite is also expected to follow in the same footsteps, but we still don’t know the pricing details for the local market just yet.
As at the time of this writing, however, the Huawei P9 Lite is now selling for just ksh 22,899, down from the usual ksh 25,999. This means you get to save a cool ksh 3000, which should be a great way to start off the week. It gets even better as the retailer in question, Jumia, has something even better for those who buy this phone before the end of March.
Before you checkout, use the voucher code FIRE_145 and an extra ksh 1,450 will be chopped off the already discounted price of the Huawei P9 Lite, meaning you only pay ksh 21,449. This is not a bad price tag for a phone that gives you a decent list of specs and features, among them a 5.2-inch Full HD screen that is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 to prevent it from easily breaking when it accidentally falls.
Under the hood, the Huawei P9 Lite has a HiSilicon Kirin 650 SoC that is paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card. Although the phone has a 3GB RAM variant, the model listed on Jumia has 2GB. In terms of optics, the back of the P9 Lite ships with a 13MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture, AF, LED flash, HDR, and 1080p video recording while the front has an 8MP lens with the same aperture.
To keep it alive is a decent 3000mAh battery that is charged via a microUSB port. Other features of the Huawei P9 Lite include a front-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual-SIM 4G LTE connectivity and runs Android Marshmallow out of the box. This is actually one area the incoming Huawei P10 Lite has an edge over its predecessor as it comes with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS preinstalled.
Other than a newer OS, the Huawei P10 Lite also comes with a more powerful Kirin 658 SoC that is paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage, which can also be expanded via a microSD card slot. The camera specs include a 12MP main sensor with f/2.2 aperture, AF, dual-tone LED flash, HDR and up to 1080p video recording, alongside an 8MP shooter on the front that keeps the same aperture of f/2.0 as the P9 Lite, but it adds AF.
The rest of the Huawei P10 Lite specs and features remained the same as the P9 Lite, among them a 5.2-inch 1080p screen, fingerprint scanner (rear-mounted), a 3000mAh battery unit that is charged via a microUSB port as well as support for 4G LTE dual-SIM connectivity. In terms of pricing, the P10 Lite is currently available in Europe (for pre-orders) at a massive 349 euros, which translates to about ksh 39,000.
Update: The Huawei P9 Lite is now selling at a slightly lower price of ksh 21,999 and this time, there’s no discount via a coupon code.
