Are you a fan of Tecno? Or are you simply in need of a new phone and somehow you are running out of cash, especially now that students are almost headed back to school?
Well, fret not because Lipa Later has your back. As you may have guessed, this is a startup that lets you get a phone of your choice – or any other electronics – and pay for the amount in monthly installments. Think of it as hire purchase, remember it? If you need any phone and can’t raise the whole money at once, Lipa Later should be your go-to shop – and the startup has some really cool deals on a bunch of Tecno phones.
Whether you want the budget Tecno Camon CX Air or the high-end Phantom 6 Plus – you can have it right now. The retailer has listed the CX Air for as little as Ksh 1,850, but this is just for the first month. Pay this amount in addition to a small application fee and you are free to walk away with a Camon CX Air phone. However, you’ll still have to make similar deposits for 11 more months in order to complete the deal.
If you want the slightly more powerful Camon CX, you can have it for 12 monthly installments of Ksh 2,470. The Tecno L9, on the other hand, is valued at Ksh 2,100 per month for the same period while the high-end Tecno Phantom 6 and Phantom 6 Plus have monthly installments of Ksh 3,370 and Ksh 4,370, respectively. Each phone is payable within 12 months, which isn’t bad if you can’t raise the whole amount at once.
As noted, these are deals that suit those guys who are in some kind of financial crisis and still need a phone. However, if you can, you’d be better off paying for the phone in a one-off transaction via retailers such as Jumia, Kilimall or Avechi. It’s a lot cheaper that way than going the Lipa Later way.
Case in point
At Ksh 4,370 per month for 12 months, you’ll end up paying a whopping Ksh 52,440 for the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus, which is nearly twice the price of the phone when purchased outright. This is the same story with the other phones as well as electronics that Lipa Later has to offer. But as you may know, every good thing has its bad side – it’s you to find out the balance between the good and the bad.
In order to take advantage of these deals, you’ll need to fill a form on the Lipa Later website, giving out your personal details, including your employer’s name and your income. The startup also demands that you pay Ksh 250 upfront, perhaps as a precautionary measure to fend off jokers, as application fee.
If interested, check out the Lipa Later website and fill out the form that will give you a new Tecno phone right away.
