A new OTA update is now rolling out to the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player and the Pixel C devices and with it comes the latest Android security patch for the month of May 2017.
Being a typical monthly security patch, the new update doesn’t bring any new features to the Google Pixel and Nexus devices. Instead, it only seals all loopholes and bugs discovered since the last update (April 2017) was rolled out.
The update is rolling out over the air and as usual, not all Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X users will get the notification at once. If you can’t wait for the OTA notification, you can grab the factory images and install them manually. If you have an unlocked Google Pixel or Pixel XL, watch out for an update that carries software version N2G47O. For the Verizon variants, the update has version NHG47L.
The Google Pixel C, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are getting software version N2G47O while those on the Nexus 6 will be updated to version N6F27C. As for the Nexus Player, the latest monthly update has software version N2G47R while the Nexus 9 tablet gets version N4F27B.
For those who are yet to receive the OTA notification, you may check for the availability of the update via Settings>About phone>Software updates, if not manually downloading and installing the factory images or OTA images.
