WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are not only the most popular apps out there, but they are also the best when it comes to sharing information instantly, even when on the go.
Initially, these apps were aimed at giving users an easy platform where they can exchange simple messages that go beyond the usual SMS. People evolved from sending text-based messages to including video attachments and now it’s possible to attach a word document on a message and send it to a WhatsApp contact.
One problem, though, is that there are lots of file formats out there that WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and many other apps are still not compatible with. In fact, many instant messaging apps only support a handful of these file formats in each category, be it images, audio, documents or even video, just to name but a few.
With this app, which has the name SendAnyFile and has been developed by a senior XDA Developers member balamu96m, you can send any file format via any of WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Hike and more. According to the developer, the app will pick up the file format in question and change its extension to .doc, something WhatsApp knows. It then sends this file as a .doc file and when it hits the recipient’s phone, they can either use the same SendAnyFile app to open the attachment or make a simple adjustment to the file extension via the phone’s file explorer.
There’s no doubt that this is a cool way of sharing those files that are not supported by not just WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, but also other apps out there. You don’t need to root your device in order for SendAnyFile app to work on your phone. In fact, this app is available for installation directly via the Google Play Store and it will work on all devices running Android 4.4 KitKat and above.
