With Easter holidays just around the corner, one of the leading retailers in East Africa has something great that will be easy turning down.
If you are looking for a great, selfie-focused smartphone, Kilimall is offering you the Gionee S6S for a price of ksh 26,999. Now, on top of this deal, the retailer will gift you a free Gionee P5 Mini, a phone that usually retails for ksh 7,220. So, if you have someone special that you’d like to surprise during this Easter holiday, this might just be the deal you have been looking for.
Perhaps to shed some light on the specs and features of both the Gionee S6S and the smaller Gionee P5 Mini, starting with the former. The phone has an amazing build with beautiful curves on the edges as well as the back in general, giving you a nice feel when holding in your hand. The front panel has the home and navigation buttons just below the display screen. This also means that the installed fingerprint scanner is on the back, just below the main camera and further below it is the company’s logo.
In terms of specs, the Gionee S6S has a decent 5.5-inch LCD display screen with a sharp 1080p resolution and 401ppi pixel density. The screen is protected from scratches and breaking by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 technology and under the hood, the S6S has a powerful, midrange MediaTek MT6753 SoC that is clocked at 1.3GHz and is paired with a RAM of 3GB.
The Gionee S6S has an internal storage of 32GB, which can be expanded using a microSD card of up to 256GB, but this would mean you only stick to using one SIM card instead of two. As noted earlier, the back panel not only houses the fingerprint scanner, but also the main camera, which has a 13MP lens with a decent aperture of f/2.0, PDAF and LED flash. It can also record up to 1080p videos at 30 frames per second. For selfies, there is a decent 8MP lens with a slightly smaller aperture of f/2.2, but this is supported by a LED flash to ensure that photos taken in the dark remain as clear as possible.
To keep the Gionee S6S alive is a massive 3150mAh unit and it gets even better to know that the phone has the latest USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and support for 4G LTE connectivity. In terms of software, you get a heavily customized Amigo UI 3.2 running on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
As for the free Gionee P5 Mini, it’s not a bad phone either, especially now that you are getting at ksh 0. The display screen size is compact at 4.5 inches and since it’s a low-end device, it gets a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels alongside a pixel density of 218ppi. Unlike the Gionee S6S, there’s no Gorilla Glass protection and under the hood, you come across a weaker MediaTek MT6580M SoC paired with a mere 1GB RAM and just 8GB of storage. This storage can be expanded via a microSD card slot of up to 32GB using a dedicated slot. You also get dual-SIM support.
Keeping the Gionee P5 Mini alive is a rather small 1800mAh battery unit that is removable, which means you can always swap it with another one in case you run out of power. However, you don’t get a USB-C port like the Gionee S6S, instead, there’s a microUSB port and no fingerprint scanner as well. Software-wise, the P5 Mini packs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
In terms of cameras, the Gionee P5 Mini ships with a 5MP sensor on the back with features such as autofocus, touch focus, geo-tagging and LED flash while the front has a 2MP sensor for selfies.
How about this for a perfect Easter holiday present for your loved one? Check out the deal here.
