Even though rumors of the 2017 iPhone 8 coming in with wholesale design changes are all over the place, the current iPhone 7 is still one of the most outstanding iPhones to come from Cupertino.
Though it keeps a larger part of the design language you see on the iPhone 6S and the 2014 iPhone 6, it has its own USPs. Other than the enhanced camera, larger storage options, and the new chipset, the 2016 iPhone 7 also boasts being the first to ship with IP67 dust and water resistance rating. In fact, the addition of this feature is what basically made upgrading from the iPhone 6S to iPhone 7 somehow reasonable, which also meant that the phone had to keep its usual premium price tag.
Other than the iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge also shipped with a dust and water resistant body, but the South Korean tech giant went for the best standard in the market – IP68. In fact, this same IP68 rating showed up on the midrange Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A7 2017, making them two of the best handsets that money can buy in the midrange family.
Where IP68 rating means that your phone will still be in good working condition even after taking a swim of about 30 minutes in water that is up to 1.5 meters deep, IP67 is just a tad behind. Apparently, this is what Lenovo has in plan for those who are looking forward to meeting the Moto G5 Plus. This comes from a newly-leaked listing that shows off the phone in full glory alongside the full specifications list.
According to the list, the Moto G5 Plus will come with a 5.2-inch 1080p display screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Motorola says that the phone has a precision-crafted metal design, however, you’ll notice that it still keeps some of the looks of its forerunner – the Moto G4 Plus. As noted earlier, the phone’s body is IP67 rated, which means you don’t have to worry when around water, be it in the kitchen sink, shower or even rain.
Last year’s model came in several variants, with the base model shipping with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage and the high-end had 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. As per the listing, the G5 Plus will keep the same 2GB RAM but the storage this time is 64GB with room to expand it via a microSD card of up to 128GB. There’s still no mention of other RAM or storage variants. The listing goes on to say that the Moto G5 Plus will come with the “most advanced camera in its class” thanks to the Dual Autofocus Pixels feature that promises to lock on the target in no time, thus ensuring that you don’t miss any shot. The sensor inside will be a 12MP unit while the front will ship with a 5MP wide-angle snapper that gets even better when it comes to group selfies.
The Moto G5 Plus is said to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC running the show alongside the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. The battery to keep it alive is a 3000mAh unit, which is touted as an “all-day battery”. You don’t have to worry about charging it for hours as it supports TurboPower Charging technology for fast charging. Other extras include 4G LTE, dual-SIM support, fingerprint scanner, and NFC, among others.
