Now that Android 8.0 Oreo is official, fans are now seeking to know the details of when their phones will get the update.
One concerned Huawei Honor 8 user took it upon himself to ask the Chinese company whether the OS will be rolled out to the phone. To his delight, the company’s support team responded positively, ascertaining that Android 8.0 Oreo will come to the Honor 8, The Android Soul reports.
This is cool from Huawei, having been one of the few companies that rolled out the update to Android 7.0 Nougat to some of its devices before the end of 2016. With this in mind, the Huawei Honor 8 could be in line to get the update before the year ends, but this is just a hunch. When replying to the Honor 8 user, the support team did not give out details of the date this update will be rolled out, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait until next year.
The only Huawei-related phone that is, in fact, already getting the update to Android 8.0 Oreo is the Google Nexus 6P. Since the search giant handles all the software-related details of the phone, those rocking this phone should receive the OTA notification sooner than later. If the OTA hasn’t hit your phone, feel free to get the system image files from this Google page and flash the package manually to your phone.
Some of the features that Android 8.0 Oreo brings to the fold include PIP mode, notification dots, autofill as well as enhanced battery life, among many others.
