Android 7.0 Nougat Update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 to Start Next Week

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

After Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, naturally, Samsung is expected to move to the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 models as far as Android 7.0 Nougat update is concerned.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 were released in 2015 and even though there are more than one year old, the two are still capable of running the latest Android 7.0 Nougat just like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Those using the 2016 models started seeing the Nougat update last month and if all goes according to plan, the same OS will start rolling out to the 2015 flagships by the end of next week.

According to a list shared by Samsung Turkey’s VP Tansu Yegen on his official Twitter account, those using the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge should start seeing the Nougat update in the second week of February. Apparently, the OS has just started rolling out in the region. Next in line will be those using Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6+ as well as the standard Galaxy S6. These three devices are expected to receive Android 7.0 Nougat as from week three of this month, which is this coming week.

On the other hand, those using Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are to start receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat beginning week 4 of this month. If anything, all flagship Samsung Galaxy handsets released in 2015 should be running on the latest Nougat OS before this month comes to an end. Be warned that this message is intended for those in Turkey, but once the update starts rolling out, other regions should follow suit sooner than later.

While Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to bring drastic improvements to the performance of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6, it seems Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users might experience some unwanted issues after the update. According to a recent report, the two phones may lose up to 35 minutes from their usual battery life, something that many hope will be fixed via a software update. Still, this shouldn’t stop you from going for the new update once it is available as various devices will respond slightly different to the update.
