Deal Alert: X-TIGI Vision 6, X-TIGI R9 and X-TIGI S1550 Discounted on Jumia by up to Ksh 3,200, Prices Start at Just Ksh 5,799
Jumia, the leading online retailer in Kenya and Africa in general, has some amazing deals for those looking for nice Android smartphones with plenty of battery power and pretty good performance specs.
Up on the list is the X-TIGI Vision 6, a PVC-built phone that features a rectangular-shaped screen with 6 inches of real estate. However, this huge phablet gets a 720p HD resolution, which is quite low. On the contrary, this small downside is overshadowed by the better hardware specs on the Vision 6 smartphone.
Under the hood, the phone packs a MediaTek quad-core processor that is clocked at a speed of 1.3GHz and is paired with a RAM of 2GB. For storage, you get 16GB onboard, but there’s a microSD card slot for expanding this by up to 128GB. In terms of photography, the X-TIGI Vision 6 packs a 13MP sensor on the back that features a LED flash ansd Autofocus (AF) while the front ships with a 5MP sensor for selfies and video calls.
As usual, dual-SIM connectivity is supported and you also get a massive 4100mAh battery unit, which should last more than a day with moderate usage. Be warned that the phone’s size and massive battery capacity mean that it also weighs a substantial 183g. One major downside, though, could be the fact that the phone runs on pretty much old software – Android 5.1 Lollipop. This OS first came out in 2014 and since its release, we’ve seen Android 6.0 Marshmallow and now Android 7.0 Nougat – quite a gap there that the X-TIGI maker has to fill huh!
On the brighter side, you get a free VR box, which means that the phone supports virtual reality. So far, we are yet to get a hands-on review of how exactly this VR technology works with the X-TIGI Vision 6 phablet, so for now, we’ll save our comments on the same. Usually, this phone goes for ksh 12,999. However, it is now listed on Jumia with a discount of 25%, which takes off a substantial ksh 3,200, bringing the price to just ksh 9,799.
If this price is still too high for you, the X-TIGI R9 should also get the job done at a much lower price. Featuring the same 6-inch 720p HD screen and a MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz as its X-TIGI Vision 6 counterpart, the R9 steps down the RAM to just 1GB. But you still get the same 16GB storage with room to expand it via a microSD card.
It gets even better with the X-TIGI R9 as the phablet gets a much larger battery unit of 4800mAh, which basically compensates for the smaller RAM package. As for the cameras, the R9 gets an edge over the Vision 6 with its 8MP selfie camera, but the main shooter remains unchanged at 13MP with a LED flash.
Unlike the X-TIGI Vision 6, the R9 has newer software in the shape of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is of course customized – heavily. The phone is also quite heavy at 185g and is made of PVC material. For this package, you get to part with ksh 7,999, saving a cool ksh 2,000 from the usual price tag of ksh 9,999.
There’s something for the entry-level buyers as well, with the 5.5-inch X-TIGI S1550 coming in at a price of just ksh 5,799. This is after a discount of ksh 2,200, but for this small figure, you get a slightly weaker package. At the moment, this phone is out of stock and there’s no word on whether it will be restocked anytime soon.
In addition to the 5.5-inch HD screen, the X-TIGI S1550 ships with the same MediaTek quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and is paired with 1GB RAM like the X-TIGI R9. In terms of storage, you get 16GB, which is expandable. Like the X-TIGI Vision 6, the S1550 is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, but for its price tag, it’s not strange at all. To keep the phone alive is a smaller 3100mAh battery unit and for cameras, you get an 8MP sensor on the back and a 5MP shooter for selfies. The seller is also throwing in a free screen protector, which makes the deal even sweeter.
Be warned that these deals are subject to change and are exclusive Jumia, the sooner you dive into them the better your chances of taking advantage of them. So hurry while they still last!
